HAKKI provides sales, marketing, accounting and labor administration to corporate ventures and to startups founded by scientists. You will work inside companies at their earliest stage and make the things happen that let the business move. Japanese and English are both in daily use.
Founded in Okinawa in June 2023. Fourteen people, four staff and ten professional members, supporting eight companies. Based in Naha and at the incubator of OIST, the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.
Two kinds of work. Joining corporate new-business units as their execution team (a team of ten has worked with BuddyBoard, a spin-out from Brother Industries, since 2023). And taking on, in English, the loan applications, accounting and labor administration that only happen in Japanese, mostly for foreign founders connected to OIST. Neither is a wait-for-instructions job; you sit beside the person running the business and work out what it needs next.
Walk alongside foreign founders building companies in Okinawa, from incorporation through launch, handling the Japanese-side work in English. Includes work on Okinawa Prefecture's startup visa programme, which HAKKI operates under contract to the prefecture.
