Own the books of a spin-out from a large corporation and of research-driven startups: from monthly closes that feed a parent company's consolidated results to setting up accounting from scratch at a brand-new company. Fully remote within Japan.

The companies whose accounting HAKKI runs are all at an early stage. One submits an affiliate reporting package to a listed parent every quarter; another was incorporated last month and is still deciding its chart of accounts. The standard required, and how much is already in place, differs company by company.
We are looking for someone who can complete the monthly close and the financial statements on their own responsibility, working with tax accountants and CPAs, and explain the numbers to the person running the business. The most important quality is persistence: when a number does not make sense, tracking down why rather than letting it go.
What you will do
- Monthly and annual closes and financial statements for client companies, with tax accountants and CPAs
- Affiliate reporting packages for a parent company's consolidated accounts
- Bookkeeping, payables and receivables
- Designing and setting up accounting at newly incorporated companies
- Reporting and explaining the numbers to venture leads and founders
Required
- Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2
- Three or more years at an accounting or tax firm, or five or more years in corporate accounting
- Experience preparing financial statements in collaboration with a tax accountant or CPA
- Persistence: not dropping a task until the cause is understood
